Submission Guidlines
- Only submissions of printed pottery are accepted (no blanks pieces please)
- Fill out the form below, including as much detail as possible
- If you don’t know or can’t remember certain information, please leave the box blank
- Images must be high quality close-ups of the fragment in good light, taken on a plain background where possible (please note that poor quality images will not be uploaded, you will be notified by email if there are any problems)
- The archive focuses only on fragments, do not submit images of intact pottery (e.g. a complete teapot or plate)
- Irrelevant or inappropriate submissions will not be published
- Submissions are manually uploaded at the moment, therefore it may take a few days before they appear on the website.
Submissions will be published to the archive, selected fragments will also be chosen to become part of the Imaginary Artefacts project
Why hasn’t my piece been published to the site?
This may take some time as currently the uploading process is manually screened. Furthermore, the image you uploaded may have been deemed unsuitable (either due to poor quality picture or not being a printed ceramic fragment) If there are any problems with your submission we will email you
How many fragments can I submit?
There is no limit. The aim is to make as large an archive as possible!
What if I don’t have all the information required (date found, place found, etc)?
Simply leave the box blank
What will the image of my fragment be used for?
Primarily, the image will become part of the archive. However, some fragments will be selected to become an ‘Imaginary Artefact’
Can I submit undamaged pottery pieces (a complete plate, cup, teapot, etc)?
No, this is an archive of sherds rather than intact objects
Do I have to have found my fragment in the UK?
Although the archive is mainly British Transferware Pottery, submissions from further afield are more than welcome
How can I contact you directly?
Send an email to fragmentfound.com or a message via Facebook or Instagram @fragmentfound
I know something about one/some of the fragments in the archive, how can I share this information with the community?
